Melly Hinson, MSW (she/her)
Melly brings to the table a rich background in case management, coaching, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. With a client-centered approach rooted in empathy and active listening, she creates a therapeutic space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported. Her work is grounded in the core dialectic of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): that meaningful change is only possible when we also accept the reality of the present moment. From this foundation, Melly helps clients build on their strengths, develop new coping strategies, and move toward a life that feels purposeful and fulfilling.
Melly has particular expertise treating suicidal and self-harming behaviors, disordered eating, depression, and PTSD. Melly works with adults and older adolescents, with special clinical interests in intergenerational trauma, adolescents launching into adulthood, and the role of somatic awareness in emotional regulation and behavior.
Outside of her professional work, Melly finds joy on the yoga mat or exploring the outdoors with her husband and 10-year-old daughter. She has never met a dog she didn’t find absolutely adorable.
Professional Background
Melly received her Master of Social Work from Columbia University in 2001 and has since pursued post-graduate training in Gestalt group process, somatic (body-centered) approaches, mindfulness, coaching, and DBT. Melly completed a two-year clinical fellowship at the DBT Center of Tacoma, where she has deepened her expertise in treating trauma and helping people recover from disordered eating.
